NLAPW Invites Writers to Spring Retreat at Pen Arts
Writers, want to start or finish your memoir, novel, chapbook of poetry, script? The next Pen Woman Writers Retreat, to be hosted at the Pen Arts historic building in Washington, D.C., is being planned for this spring (dates to be announced soon) and applications are now open.
Pen Women writers who are looking to complete a major writing project are encouraged to submit an application for consideration by an independent panel of judges. Four Pen Women will be competitively selected for this retreat based on their applications and writing samples.
This unique opportunity for Pen Women writers includes private writing coaching, professional editing sessions, small group and individual instruction, dedicated writing time in a location of your choice at Pen Arts, four days and three nights in the Pen Arts rooms, breakfasts, lunches, private tours around the Dupont Circle area of D.C., and wine and cheese night readings of your work in development. Writers will share a room at Pen Arts with one other retreat participant.
Topics of instruction will include how to create a hook, best processes for self-editing, how to ward off writers’ block, manuscript preparation, and suggestions for and advice about publishing and marketing, including the creation of sell sheets.
To be considered, you must submit an application form, available to download below. The deadline will be announced soon, and cost is $50. If accepted, your application fee will be applied to the full retreat cost of $450. Similar writers retreats are offered at a cost upwards of $1,000.
