Vinnie Ream Competition Closes March 30
Who is Vinnie Ream and why does the NLAPW’s most prestigious competition honor her?
For good reason. At the age of 18, she was commissioned to sculpt a marble statue of President Abraham Lincoln, the first female artist to create a work of art for the U.S. government. The full-length statue of the president resides in the rotunda of the Capitol.
The Vinnie Ream competition challenges us to follow her sterling example of elevating our work to the highest level.
First-place winners in art, letters, and music can choose an award of either $300 or a harp pendant in sterling silver with zirconia accents.
Jan Eberle Schaberg, the 2024 Vinnie Ream winner in letters, prepared an excellent six-minute, image-rich video with pertinent facts about Vinnie. Why not spend six minutes learning about this illustrious member? Watch it below.
