“Pot of Gold” by Fran Mann Goodman, Boca Raton Branch
Acrylic with acrylic skins (36×36)
Artist’s Statement
My interest, when I paint, is “to build life” into the piece. I do this by heavily layering and texturizing the canvas. For “Pot of Gold,” I mixed acrylic paint with molding paste to create the swirls of color surrounding the image of the pot. For the pot itself, I relied on a combination of pumice gel for the base and acrylic skins that I twisted and shaped and spread over and onto the pot. I find that the skins, which are made from dried acrylic paint, add an extra layer of dimension, and give an extra boost of life to my paintings.
Movement through color and texture! I can almost “feel” it with my eyes.
The originality of your work is delightful. Congratulations on being chosen for this well deserved honor. Phyllis
It pops and crackles and swirls like a solar system, Fran!

So very vibrant and enlivening. I needed that boost of color and movement this afternoon. Thank you.
As always, I am very fond of Fran’s art pieces and especially enjoy her teaching style online. She’s a great instructor. Her skins technique which is three dimensional is so unique and I’m eager to learn it.
