Tap computer keys.
Narrative is an art.
Let words take over.
Time passes,
But, in the pockets of your mind,
The past remains.
Write about connections:
People you have met.
People you admired.
People who made a dent
In the pattern of your life.
Yes, connections count.
You are who you are
Because of connections.
Connections with individuals,
Connections with animals,
Connections with nature
Connections with the issues of the day.
Remember, then write.
Thoughts generate creativity.
Be inspired. Take responsibility.
Yes, so the next generation
Can read your writing today
And learn from the past.
Make connections.
What is inside of you,
Inside your brain,
Will connect and create.
Yes, the future depends
On each of us to care and share.
Sharing is responsibility.
Sharing our thoughts,
Sharing our memories,
Sharing our connections.
Use the written word
Delight the mind and save the soul.
I agree. Connections are so important; remembering and writing are meaningful for the future. Thank you!
I was particularly struck by this brief imperative: “Remember then write.” Inspirational words, Patricia, calling us to act.
This writing is so true. I know you very much value the written word and also the value of sharing your family history.
THANK YOU Patricia for you beautifully written and powerful poem. Wise and timely. I have started the endeavor of writing a Bible study for women who are seeking their true identity after experiencing abuse. Your words are inspiration to “stay the course”!

I love the line, “Use the written word.”
Every story, every poem, script, song lyric, speech, letter, show, began as creative thought–in the mind of a writer!
