“Birth of Venus” by Jane A. George, Pensacola Branch
4×5 watercolor
Artist Statement:
“This image originated with my interest in the long history of life on Earth. Sea life was the beginning. This painting celebrates one of our most beautiful forms, the sand dollar, life in a circle, one of the basic shapes in the universe. I chose to work in large dimensions (4’x5’), which would celebrate the image.
The fluidity of this watercolor expresses my vision. The Gulf Coast offers many wonderful places to experience sea life.”
Jane, this is so beautiful. I love the soft shades of blue, everything about the sea, all its colors and creatures. Thanks for sharing your beautiful sand dollar.
That’s really pretty. I just kept looking at it. Thx. Linda Spencer
Beautiful capture of one the most fascinating sea creatures. Thank you for sharing. Brings back memories of being so excited when I would find an unfractured one on shores of Texas coastline as a child.
So expressive of the beauty of sea life–that which we love and need to protect.
That is a beautiful work of art. The sand dollar is particularly moving.
The movement of the ocean is here, Jane, along with the serenity of the sand dollar. A celebration of the Gulf Coast’s crystalline beauty.
I love the movement of your piece. Colors are so realistic.
Beautiful painting and interesting commentary!
Thank you. I love this image. I enjoy creating in watercolor.
