“Irises in Vases,” by Jean Dodd, Jacksonville Branch, Florida
16×12 acrylic
Jean Dodd, happily retired art museum director, educator, and Episcopal clergy, is writing stories and still teaching painting to wonderful students at St. John’s Cathedral after 10 years.
As the founding curator of education at the Cummer Museum of Art in Jacksonville, she developed “Art Connections,” a system of museum education combined with installations and innovative programming that set a precedent for regional and national museums. For this, Dodd was awarded the National Medal for Museum and Library Service. She is also the past president and founding member of the Jacksonville Artists Guild.
Other awards for her art, teaching, and museum work include the Cultural Council Artist Award, Florida Times-Union EVE Award, Southern Association of Arts and Letters Award, Florida Museum Association Innovator Award, Florida Museum Lifetime Leadership Award, and Very Special Arts 2000 Leadership Award.
Well done. I like the composition and the highlights of the glass against the dark background. A rich look.
Absolutely lovely, and a sweet spring promise here in Sweden, where we are experiencing a blizzard today. Many thanks!
Stunning picture! I love the colors and the contrast.
So beautiful.
