Featured Poem: Summer Memory

By Brenda Layman

Thank you for the warm and fragrant memory

Cycling down summer lanes

In and out of sunlight and shadow

Chasing the crystal wind

Scented with clover

Ruffled peony garden

Heavy blossoms nodding pink and white

Purple thistle

Queen Anne’s Lace

Field of green and gold adorned with bees

We stopped more to savor than to rest

Somewhere far and away

A hawk cried out into the blue and lovely sky

  1. How lovely. Thank you for the reminder to take time to appreciate all of the beauty in our midst — all there for the taking, all for us to enjoy.
