Jane Gates Lies
Pensacola Branch, Florida
My thought escaped
Into the dark abyss
Of my mind,
A fugitive,
Hiding somewhere,
Only once in view,
A slice of a moment,
Never again,
Lost forever.

Oh my gosh, Jane…….you must be in my mind! I have now resorted to Post-It-Notes, and, if I’m very lucky, maybe I can remember where they have ben stuck!
Isn’t that the truth about creative thoughts that come to us! If we don’t capture them quickly, they float away…perhaps looking for a new place to land.
THIS POEM SURE DISCRIBES MEMORIES AND IDEAS THAT ESCAPE
US FOREVER. HAPPENDS ALL THE TIME.
WELL PUT. THANKS FOR SHARING.
Wow! This is too close to home. Not many words but very powerful prose!!!!
I can relate to this as so many memories I used to have clearly in mind are faded. I also have a relative who has Alzheimer’s in a somewhat early stage, and it is so hard to see her confusion. That’s why our journals can be so useful. But we have to really keep them. Or photograph albums? If we can recall. A sadness in your poem but also a hopeful reminder that maybe there are ways to counteract this loss.
This happens to me frequently when I walk from one room, to another, to get something. ?
Sorry, don’t mean to be flip.
This really made me think about the ravages of dementia or Alzheimer’s. Not funny at all.
Prayers & uplifting thoughts for those wh suffer & those who watch their loved ones slipping away. ❤
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing! Hope your summer was great.
